Secara singkat, HEC-RAS adalah model hidraulika, sedangkan HEC-HMS adalah model hidrologi.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam bahasa sederhana, HEC-HMS adalah <em>tool<\/em>\u00a0untuk mengubah data (curah) hujan yang turun di DAS menjadi debit aliran (<em>runoff<\/em>)<em>\u00a0<\/em>yang keluar dari DAS tersebut. Apabila kita ingin mengetahui perjalanan aliran banjir tersebut di sungai, maka kita memakai HEC-RAS. Jadi, HEC-HMS kita pakai untuk menghitung debit berdasarkan data hujan, sedangkan HEC-RAS kita pakai untuk menghitung muka air di sepanjang alur sungai berdasarkan masukan debit.
